Tips for space and longevity
Today we showcase a kitchen inside a beautiful old Queenslander.
Renovations can be trickier than new builds—especially with the usual surprises that come along with older homes. Odd leans and out-of-square walls mean that the design of cabinetry needs to be carefully considered.
In this charming but size-limited kitchen, a number of design tricks were employed in order to provide a sense of spaciousness. Natural, even tones contribute to this, as does the open cabinetry and glass shelving in the overhead cupboards.
The island is small but wonderfully functional, clad in Essastone with dramatic waterfall edges. This counter provides additional work space with along with seating perfect for a busy family kitchen.
Would you believe that this kitchen is now ten years old? It looks as good and as relevant now as the day it was installed. It's thoughtful design and carefully selected neutral palette and fittings have given this outstanding kitchen a timeless look which blends seamlessly with the adjoining living space.
